THE LOCAL AREA

Visit Local  Attractions.

We are a short walk to two local pubs, the Beehive and the Hanging Gate. More resturants and pubs are in our local town, Chapel En Le Frith. The train station is a 20 minute walk away – with a footpath leading directly from the campsite to the station.

Pubs & Restaurants we  Recommend.

Combs, Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith are all close by, our local pub is a 5 minute walk away and Buxton is 5 miles away for more great places to eat and drink (too many for us to list). So we’ve included a link here to give you some ideas.

A beautiful campsite, with stunning views over the valley and lake. Everything was spotlessly clean. Warm showers, and well drained hard standing areas. Highly recommend.

Quiet, rural touring site with extensive views. The location is close to the owners farm on a sunny hillside within easy walking distance of Combs villiage and its excellent pub with small shop. The town of Chapel en le Frith has most things you might need and is a couple of miles away .Toilets are clean and reasonably modern. Probably about 7 years old i'm guessing. There is a rail line behind the pitches and trains run maybe hourly but stop over night. Some walks from site including the circuit of the reservoir and the hill walk around Combs Moss. Dont miss Castleton, the Dovedale valley, ilam park and Eyam. Independent site. No longer anything to do with Camping Club. Pods available and tent field camping.

We stayed here in September in the Rosie Robin Pod for 5 nights. Very nice site, clean and tidy toilets and showers. Only problems would be the pod said it came with pots and pans, and all we had was a frying pan, so we had to buy a saucepan. Also, in the women's toilets, there are no sanitary bins or sanitary bags, just a bin by the sinks. We would stay again as the price was very good and our dog was allowed, which is not often the case with other places staying in pods. Highly recommended

A cheeky overnight stay here, the campsite is absolutely beautiful. Good clean facilities,we stayed in our Dub camper van but had a nosey at the pods on site which were very well equipped with heating ,cooking facilities and bedding in with the price. The hard standing camper areas ( with optional EHU) are very reasonably priced. The local area is great for walking, cycling and the res( combs res) which we looked onto offer paddle board and canoe facilities . The local pub is called the beehive inn where we had a meal in the evening which was absolutely excellent, and returned for breakfast which again was fantastic. A great stop over only an hour from us in Holmfirth. We will definitely be back.😎

Nice stop-over near Peak District between e g. ferry and Lake District. Very friendly staff. Pub on 7 min. walk for a drink or food. Very narrow road from/to campsite with hardly any passing places.

Camped here for 3 days. Views are spectacular, showers and toilets clean and the site is very well looked after. Great place to go for walking as a few trails start just outside the site. Also two pubs in walking distance. Will definitely be back.
