Christmas at Chatsworth

Now we understand that getting into the Christmas spirit in November isn’t for everyone, but we’re all for the early festivities, especially after the last couple of years in lockdown! So, if you are looking for something Christmassy to do in the Peak District this November, Christmas at Chatsworth is perfect. This event is on from the 6th November all the way through to the 9th of January, it’s a pre-Christmas must. Each year Chatsworth House go to great lengths to decorate the house with magnificent scenes of Christmas and the most brilliantly decorated Christmas trees you’ve ever seen. This year, Chatsworth commemorates 20 years of beautiful Christmases by focusing on nostalgia for Christmases past, you won’t want to miss out.


Bolsover and Pevril Castle

Why not take a trip to Bolsover and Pevril Castle? They are open during the winter months on weekends and they both offer endless hours of family fun. Take a stroll on the grounds of Bolsover Castle and admire the spectacular views over Derbyshire before letting your little ones run wild in the grounds and play area. The ruins of Peveril Castle are another must-see, climb to the top of the hill and take in the breathtaking views over Castleton.


Haddon Hall Winter Artisan Market

If you’re a fan of artesian markets, and who isn’t? Then be sure to take a visit to Haddon Hall during your trip to the Peak District. The markets are beautifully decorated and brimming with handcrafted gifts and artisanal food. They take place from the 18th to the 28th of November and provide a great day out for all the family. Visitors will have plenty of time to look around, purchase, and sample the delicious cuisine and gifts on offer.


Bakewell Christmas Market Weekend

If visiting Chatsworth isn’t enough to get you in the Christmas spirit, the Bakewell Christmas Market’s certainly will. The markets take place on the 20th and 21st of November and are free to attend. With over 100 stalls on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent you can spend hours browsing for unique Christmas gifts or indulging in mulled wine and festive treats. If you’re bringing children, there’s plenty to keep them entertained with fairground rides and we’ve heard Santa is making an appearance.
