8 reasons Combs Valley Campsite is the perfect choice for a staycation holiday

The UK staycation has been growing in popularity recently, and with so many choices it can be a difficult decision to decide on which campsite to make your holiday destination. Hopefully, we can help you out by providing you with 8 reasons Combs Valley Campsite is the perfect choice for a staycation this year.

Location Location Location

Of course, the main reason to book a staycation is to choose accommodation and a location that you’d like to visit. The Peak District is one of the most popular National Parks in the UK and we can understand why. There are any number of stunning landscapes and open spaces, endless amounts of activities for all ages and amazing heritage sites, rich in history.

Campsite views

Here at Combs Valley, we appreciate a good view and we feel we’ve lucked out when it comes to the view from our campsite.

Our campsite is nestled in a beautiful valley within Derbyshire. The view overlooking Combs Reservoir is truly stunning and if you’re lucky enough to get a clear evening the sunsets are particularly spectacular.

Great food options

Now we know that when you’re looking for a place to take your family for the weekend, one of the main things you’re looking for is some good food options with something for everyone, and we don’t blame you. We’re happy to say that at Combs Valley there are an abundance of food choices close by.

Just a short 5-minute walk away from the campsite is the Beehive. With 4.5 stars on Google, this traditional pub offers local cuisine with both vegetarian and vegan options.

If real pub grub is your thing, The Hanging Gate Pub and Restaurant has something for everyone. It’s just 0.7 miles from the campsite and offers a takeaway option. The Hanging Gate even has a kids play area making it perfect for families.

If you fancy venturing a tad further for a taste of the Mediterranean, there are plenty of options including Kouros Café and Vecchia Italia. Both are under 1.5 miles away.

First class facilities

Of course, it makes sense that we are huge camping advocates. This means we understand the importance of good camping facilities. Camping has changed a lot over the years, you no longer need to shower with a hose or walk miles for a working toilet. We’re really proud of the facilities that we offer including a well sheltered site, flushing toilets, showers, washbasins and more.

Plenty of local activities

Arguably the most important part of a staycation is what you get up to whilst you’re there. There are plenty of activities suitable for rain or shine in close proximity to our campsite.

Why not take a visit to one of Derbyshire’s stunning country houses? Hardwick Hall will blow you away, it was built for ‘Bess of Hardwick’, Elizabethan England’s second most powerful and wealthy woman. If the weather is nice, you can explore the gardens or take a trip to the park.

If it’s history you want, take in the views of Derbyshire from Bolsover Castle, wander the lavish rooms of The Lavish Castle or let your little ones run wild in the grounds.

For a day of family fun, head to Carsington Water where everyone can get involved in a variety of water sports, horse and bike riding.

Wide variety of walks

If you like walking, then Combs Valley Campsite is the perfect place to stay. We are surrounded by so many beautiful walks in the Peak District, from riverside strolls to full day hikes, there’s something for everyone.

One of the most famous walks in England is The Man Tor, overlooking the village of Castleton, Mam Tor is 517m hill and is otherwise known as the Shivering Mountain.

Another popular walk is Kinder Scout, at 2,087 feet high, it is the highest point in the Peak District and the views are breathtaking.

We operate a no-tolerance policy when it comes to disruptive and aggressive behaviour so you can rest assured that choosing to stay with us will be the perfect choice for your staycation.
